10 Quick Tips on How to Create, Distribute, and Profit from eBooks

eBooks are a powerful viral marketing tool that can literally provide you with an entire network of people who promote your business, absolutely free. Here are a few quick tips on how to benefit from eBooks. Digital Goodies Unleashed WWW.DIGIGU.COM website is loaded with digital content including eBooks covering  everything from Affiliate Marketing to Dog Training.

1. Provide Real Content.

This is the most basic tip, but it’s vitally important.A simple “click” of the mouse is all it takes for someone to delete your eBook. Don’t offer a simple sales pitch; provide your reader with valuable information. This will both capture his interest and build your credibility. He’ll be more inclined to view your other products if he likes what he sees — and even better, he may refer other business to you.

2. Use What’s Already Available.

Creating an eBook doesn’t have to be a long, painful process. For example, you could put together a related group of articles and simply add a few comments or an introduction. Or if you get a lot of questions about a particular topic, pick some of them and put together an eBook that offers the answers to these questions.

3. Make Your eBook Attractive and Easy to Read.

EBooks are usually either in ‘EXE’ format or ‘PDF’ format. There are advantages and disadvantages to both formats, but regardless of what you choose, create a layout that’s clean, attractive, and easy to navigate. Offer links to the major sections of your book and to places on the web where the reader can find more information. Use graphics sparingly, though; the more graphics you use, the larger the file size (and thus the longer it will take to download).

4. Provide Links Back to Your Site and Products.

For example, you can:
= Put your website URL and logo on the cover page.
= Embed affiliate links within the context of your articles, where appropriate.
= Write up a dedicated sales page at the end of your eBook to promote a related product.
= Refer to your own products and how it can help the reader. Keep it brief and use it only where appropriate; you don’t want your eBook to sound like a sales pitch.

5. Encourage Your Reader to Pass It On.

Make it clear that your reader is welcome to distribute the eBook, so long as nothing is changed. He can put it on his own website as a nice gift to his visitors, or offer it as a bonus when people subscribe to his newsletter. The more places your eBook appears, the more free exposure you get.

6. Offer Co-Branding or Re-Branding.

To encourage other webmasters to distribute your eBook to their guests, you can offer to ‘brand’ the book with their URL
and logo. Some eBook compilers include this as one of their features. One of them is the Activ E-Book Compiler, a solid affordable option available at http://buildyourhomebiz.com/ebookcompiler.html .

7. Promote, Promote, Promote.

There are plenty of ways to promote your eBook. These include:
= Listing it in eBook directories.
= Promoting it in your email (or message board) sig file.
= Posting to appropriate ‘announcement’ groups or lists.
= Creating a special page just for the eBook and submit that page to the search engines.
= Offer the book to your list of business contacts and let them know that they’re welcome to distribute it to their own guests.
There are many other ways to distribute your eBook; be creative!

8. Consider Selling Advertising.

If you have a heavily trafficked site and the stats to prove it, you may be able to sell advertising within your eBook. Naturally you won’t want too many ads … but a banner at the top and bottom of each page is fairly common.
You can also choose to use that space for your own ads … or offer them to select webmasters in exchange for some additional promotion.

9. Build Your File of Testimonials.

Chances are, if people love your eBook you’ll start to receive unsolicited testimonials. Ask the person for permission to use his or her testimonial within your marketing materials. It will show that you have a lot of happy customers – and help to persuade visitors to make a purchase.

10. Consider Using an Autoresponder for Follow-Up.

You may want to offer your free eBook in exchange for an email address. This gives you the opportunity torepeatedly market to the reader. Instead of giving him a free eBook and then never contacting him again, you ‘grab’ him while his interest is at a peak and continue to offer more free information through your follow-up autoresponder. At the end of your message, encourage the reader to take a look at what else you have to offer.

Get your Online business in high gear!

5 Web Development Tips for Increasing Online Sales

By Jimmy Rodriguez

Some merchants might not realize it, but the design of their online storefronts-from the landing page to the shopping cart-has a direct effect on sales. Even the smallest of design elements can improve or harm conversion rates, and this tutorial will tell you five things you can do as a web developer to increase online sales.

Think about it from a shopper’s perspective. It seems pretty clear that you want your shopping process to be as intuitive as possible-but a lot of online storefronts don’t practice what they preach. Sometimes, web stores get too artsy with their designs. Others use flash animations that can slow down the shopper’s browser. Still others use color schemes that send the wrong signals to shoppers.

Performing A/B testing on your online storefront is an important part of making sure your site appeals to customers and makes shopping as intuitive as possible. There is a range of ways that different design elements can affect online users, and testing helps put those ways in perspective. With more than ten years of experience designing online storefronts, we’ve seen enough to know what the “dos and don’ts” of web store design look like.

Here are five tips on how you can turn more visitors into customers and seriously improve conversion rates using some simple design techniques.

Make sure your shopping cart is visible

If the customer adds an item to their cart, they want to have the peace of mind that the item was actually registered. Therefore, somewhere on the page at all times during the shopping process, your store should have an area listing the number of items in the customer’s cart and other relevant check-out information.

Having checkout data visible and readily available also helps ease the transition from shopping to checkout. No matter where the customer finishes shopping, it’s important to have a quick link back to the checkout page.

It isn’t enough to simply have shopping cart information somewhere on the page, however. Make it pop so it’s easier to find. Contrasting colors from the color scheme on the rest of the page is a good way to help the cart stand out.

Optimize your “add-to-cart” buttons

Site visitors and customers respond differently to different calls to action. For instance, if your “add-to-cart” button says “more details” or “learn more,” our experience has been that customers don’t react as well to this kind of indirect call-to-action. In contrast, an “add-to-cart” button that says “buy now” is a specific, direct call to action that elicits a much more positive response from shoppers.

Coloring is also an important design element here. Blue and green are gentler colors that usually cause people to follow up, whereas orange and red can hurt the performance of your “add-to-cart” button. Using colors that flow with your site’s color scheme helps further clarify the call-to-action.

Clean up your product pages

The organization of your site’s product pages is a crucial part of ensuring that your customers are drawn in by the information that is most appealing to them.

Have you ever thought about where your customer reviews reside on the product page? Sure, customer reviews are an important part of gaining the customer’s trust-but they don’t have to be the first thing that the shopper sees. So many elements on any given page mean a complex organization process.

The first element should always be the product images. The shopper wants to see exactly what he or she is getting for the money. After that, make sure to feature the product name, description and the price to get the customer’s attention. Keep elements like customer reviews and links to similar products closer to the bottom of the page.

Clarify your navigation paths

Hidden menus and other elements on the page are very ineffective and can sometimes lead to shopper frustration. One of the most important parts of clarifying your navigation is by avoiding hidden elements on the page.

If you have too many categories, this can be a difficult task. However, fly-out menus (that “fly out” when you mouse over them) are an effective way to keep your page from getting too cluttered while giving the shopper the opportunity to access any category page at any time.

Don’t get caught up in getting too artistic about how you design category and other navigational elements; shoppers will always thank you through better conversion rates when you make practicality a priority.

Using bread crumbs so shoppers can trace their way back from where they came is another way to ensure the shopping experience is a smooth one. Make a path between categories and subcategories somewhere on the page. After shoppers add something to their carts, a “continue shopping” button makes returning to shopping as intuitive as possible.

Eliminate distractions from your checkout page

When your customer proceeds to the checkout, you want them to go in a very specific direction. So, when you’re designing your checkout, this is the time to remove items like left sidebar navigation to define a clear path to the goal.

Ignore the urge to continue selling into the checkout process. Every second between landing and checking-out is precious to ensuring the sale is actually made.

Single-page checkouts tend to have the highest conversion rates. Simplifying the checkout process and making it easier for the shopper is a great way to ensure the sale is completed. In one page, the customer should be able to fill out their shipping, billing and credit card information. One-click checkout is also a great way to keep customers coming back. A good checkout experience will stay in the shopper’s mind.

Marketing Weight Loss Products as an Online Business

Filed under: Internet Business — admin @ 4:22 am

There are thousands of diets and weight loss products on the market today. Some have built a good reputation while others have sent customers to the emergency room for one reason or another. We cannot blame the ‘industry’ only. Customers must take responsibility for the product and do the proper research prior to starting the ‘program’. Checking with your doctor before you begin any weight loss program is critical. Your internal organs must be able to handle the additional stress of weight loss. The kidneys and liver especially work harder as the body adjusts. Only the proper examinations and test can confirm this. Some people spend up to $400.00 for a program and depend totally on this to create the desired weight loss results. We keep forgetting that proper diet and exercise is the very best and safest method to achieving these goals. When I was a young man I started to gain weight rapidly because I fell in love with junk food. I began riding my bicycle 5 miles a few times a week and this went one for well over 2 years. Of course I lost all the weight and in the process developed a very healthy heart. I didn’t even give up junk food. You cannot and should not expect to lose weight successfully without changing to life style. Go walking, cycling, join a gym and the weight will eventually begin to fall off.

The problem is this is easier said than done. Very few of us can commit and stay with any exercise program so the Weight Loss industry continues to make big profits while we go on with our poor eating and exercise habits. There are a few good programs out there but again combine your diet with a healthy portion of outdoor activity. lots of vegetables and fruits are a must to maintain health. Sometimes these are totally neglected especially during a diet.

Three of the top weight loss programs are available on the website here http://www.weightvendor.com.
Always keep in mind, you must do due diligence and read what the product contains and always check with your Doctor before eating or drinking any weight loss formulas.  Click here to get a free copy of the popular eBook “Affiliate Marketing Handbook”.  It is well worth reading if you plan on becoming an Internet Marketing entrepreneur. May you live a long, healthy and prosperous life.

Working at home

Filed under: Internet Business — admin @ 2:18 pm
February 17, 2010, 5:30AM

Inclement weather on the East Coast and elsewhere in the country has many workers
snowed in at home. That doesn’t mean they’re not working.

It just means shifting that work to their home offices.

“If people aren’t working, they’re not generating revenue. If people are working from home, it’s business as usual,” said Chuck Wilsker, president and chief executive of the Telework Coalition, a Washington-based nonprofit education and advocacy organization for people who work remotely with the help of technology.

If you travel for work, your company probably already has telecommuting policies in place, you’re aware of them and you have the required hardware and software to work from home.

But if you’re almost always in the office, consider these five tips for working from home safely and efficiently:

1. Know your company’s policies

If you don’t know your company’s telecommuting policies, you could be putting information at risk — and your job, too.

“If they lose information … if they’re going outside policy or not following standard common-sense standards for data security, that could mean their job,” said Jeremy Miller, director of operations at Kroll Fraud Solutions.
2. Secure your systems

Does your work require use of a company-issued computer to access its system? If so, you have a responsibility to keep that laptop or other device — and all the information contained within it — secure, Miller said.

If you’re using your personal computer, make sure to take precautions as well, including disabling peer-to-peer applications so that files are not visible to others on the web. And you might not think anything of it if your neighbor or roommate logs on to your computer, but if there is work information on the machine, you could be in violation of company policy, Miller said.
3. Protect your computer

Enable your wireless network’s password protection and use a good password so outsiders can’t hack into the network, according to a tip sheet from Best Buy’s Geek Squad, a technology assistance service.

And before you use a home computer to access office files or databases, make sure your operating system has the latest security updates. Also, check to ensure your antivirus program is reputable and current, the Geek Squad said.
4. Back up files

Regardless of where you’re working, make sure you back up your data — especially when there are severe winds or several feet of snow, according to the Geek Squad. Large files can be stored to a USB drive or an online storage spot.
5. Create a comfortable working environment

Minimize distractions at home by setting up your desk in a place where you can concentrate — and a place that is reasonably quiet. Call center employees who work from home often are prohibited from having such things as barking dogs or chirping birds in the background, Wilsker said. But it’s not a bad idea for any employee working at home to limit background noise for when work calls need to be taken.

Top 10 Small Business Resolutions for 2010

It’s that time of year again when we make resolutions that will help guide us into the New Year. As a small business owner, this is the perfect time to make a list of resolutions of things you can do to help grow and solidify your business in 2010. Think of it as reinforcing your business plan — or in some cases, rewriting your business plan to take advantage of new opportunities.

What will you do this New Year to help your small business grow? What plans can you put in place now to guide you through the coming year? Join the conversation here:  http://www.mysolutionspot.com/tell_us/what-s-on-your-wish-list-for-the-upcoming-year-2191/

To help make 2010 a perfect “10” for you and your business, we’ve compiled a list of our top 10 resolutions for small businesses.

10.    Evaluate what worked

Evaluate what worked for your business and keep doing more of it, stop doing what didn’t. To quote Albert Einstein, “Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Achieving your business goals is about having specific goals with deadlines, analyzing what works and what doesn’t, and regularly evaluating your progress against your goals. The biggest difference between businesses that succeed and businesses that don’t is the simple act of making it happen. Don’t linger, take action and move towards your goals. Decide what you want to achieve, and then design a plan to get there.

9.    Continue to learn and improve
In order to stay successful in business, you must commit to continue to learn and improve. Education is a never-ending process. What you learned before may now be obsolete. Once you’ve learned something new, a new knowledge arises. Surround yourself with useful information and knowledge. Enroll in training courses in the areas you are less experienced in. Participate in seminars and workshops. Find a successful business mentor whom you can emulate, to guide you in your operations. Hire experts and coaches in a particular field to help answer questions. Research new business ventures and ideas. Adapt and learn from other successful businesses, adopt similar techniques. Stay persistent, work hard and continue to learn new ways to improve your skills and abilities.

8.    Practice good communication skills
Communication is a two-way street. The only way each side can get the desired outcome is by taking the time to specify goals, the associated objectives to meet them and any foreseeable barriers. How you communicate is just as important, if not more so, than the product or service you are trying to sell. As a small business owner, you need to be able to talk with confidence to your customers, vendors and employees and also interpret types of non-verbal communication. This year resolve to (1) be aware of non-verbal cues; (2) take care with electronic communications; (3) communicate confidently; (4) stay connected with employees; and (5) collect customer feedback.

7.    Treat your employees well
If you have experienced, motivated employees, you are probably already treating them well – paid them competitive salaries and benefits, provided training, acknowledged their contributions. If, on the other hand, you turnover is high and employee morale is low, you should consider changing the way you hire, manage, and reward your staff. Seek to hire employees with drive, dedication and a commitment to working with others to get the job done right. Empower employees by giving them knowledge, resources, authority and managerial support. Reward employees when they provide stellar customer service. By practicing the Golden Rule, treating employees as you would like to be treated, your business will be ultimately rewarded.

6.    Serve your customers well
Knowing how to meet and, more importantly, exceed expectations will allow you deliver exceptional customer service consistently. Listen to customer feedback and conduct focus groups with your customers to see what they really value. Make training an important part of creating a culture for customer service excellence. Make errors a part of the journey and empower employees to acknowledge and react to them accordingly. Apologize for the problem and really listen. Beyond satisfaction, this will build customer confidence and loyalty.

5.    Market, market, market
Before you embark on your next marketing campaign, think first what it is you want to achieve. Inform customers and prospects about your company, products, services, website, or other offerings. Persuade your target audience to do something specific in response to your marketing activities. Create in the mind of customers and prospects the perception that there is no other product or service that is quite like yours. Establish a connection, or relationship, with customers. Convince customers and prospects to think positively of you. Announce something positive about your company. Any opportunity you can seize, or create, to further your marketing plan deserves consideration. Be a relentless promoter of your business. Get creative. Have fun! Remember that little things can equal big impressions.

4.    Get the most out of networking
Take advantage of opportunities to improve business contacts. Networking events and organizations are great ways to meet a group of people with similar interests who are open to opportunities to work together and help each other achieve a common goal. Networking also helps small business leaders talk to prospects and educate potential customers. A valuable network is one that is alive and growing daily. Successful networking really comes down to your approach to networking, your ability to listen and to communicate effectively, and the relationships you build. Make sure that the events and meetings you attend have the potential to help build relationships that will benefit both you and your contacts.

3.    Regularly back up your data
Backing up data is vital for business. Commit to make better use of technology and backup software that helps keep your business protected from possible failure. Regular data backup doesn’t have to be painful or expensive. Ideally, you should look for new technology that allows for automatic, off-site backups that protect you even further by storing your critical data at another location. Most of these packages are affordable and are worth their weight in gold when disaster strikes.

2.    Clean up your credit
Improving your credit takes time and practice. Naturally, we tend to focus on what’s important right now. But when it comes to making major financial decisions, like committing to a small business loan, it’s important to learn and take the necessary steps towards improving your credit before it becomes a crisis. Commit to these three best practices: (1) keep revolving credit balances low; (2) pay your bills on time; and (3) check your credit report.

1.    Set aside a rainy day fund
Managing cash flow for a small business is much like riding a roller coaster. And with today’s economic situation, having cash on hand is more important than ever before. One method to ensure you’re never short is to open a reserve account which can be set aside for emergency use. If possible, try not to use lenders as an emergency cash reserve. Borrowed money will only add to your debt and delay the negative impact of your financial emergency if you’re unable to pay it back immediately. Having a reserve account ensures that you will always have an extra cash cushion.
